Big Picture 7: How the Output Reaches the User
After end_turn the work is done. Now the answer reaches the user, and it can take several different forms.
- 1.end_turn: the work is done
- 2.Chat answer, Artifact, Files, Code changes, Structured JSON or Actions
- 3.User sends another message?
- 4.Cycle starts again, now with the full history
The output forms
- Chat answer: the most common. Streaming text appears on screen gradually and can come with citations.
- Artifact: Claude builds and hands you an app, a page, a diagram or a document.
- Files: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files (docx, xlsx, pptx, pdf), and charts.
- Code changes: edits to files, commits and even a pull request.
- Structured JSON: not for a person, for your program.
- Actions: through tools, Claude can send an email, create a ticket or update a database.
- Next message: if the user sends another message, the whole cycle starts again, only now the full history goes along with it.
